How to create a QR code that opens a website

  1. Enter a full website URL, for example https://example.com.
  2. You may also enter example.com; this tool will add https:// automatically.
  3. Click Generate QR Code and scan the preview using your phone camera.
  4. Download the PNG only after confirming that the QR code opens the correct link.

Supported QR content

  • Email addresses: hello@example.com opens an email draft
  • Phone numbers: +919876543210 opens the calling option
  • Plain text: Any short note or message
  • Wi-Fi text: Use the standard Wi-Fi QR format if needed

Best scan quality

  • Use black QR modules on a white background.
  • Keep the white border around the QR image.
  • Use a short URL instead of a very long link when possible.
  • Do not crop, stretch or blur the downloaded PNG.
  • Test the final file with a mobile camera.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my QR code show text instead of opening a website?

A website address needs a valid protocol such as https:// to be recognized as a clickable link by many scanners. This tool automatically adds https:// when you enter a normal domain such as example.com.

Can I generate a QR code for my website?

Yes. Paste your complete website URL or just your domain name. For example, oopsedit.com is automatically converted to https://oopsedit.com.

Why is the downloaded PNG not scanning?

Use a dark QR color with a light background, do not remove the white outer margin, and avoid long text where possible. This tool creates a PNG with sharp square modules and a scan-safe white quiet zone.

Does this tool upload my URL or text?

No. QR generation occurs locally in the browser. Your input is not sent to the server.
